First Born by kyoht First Born by kyoht
Often, when making a pact with a demon, the currency used in exchange for wealth, long life, extraordinary powers, or fame was the first born child... or any baby for that matter.

This was an extremely fun painting to do. >:)

8.5x11 acrylic painting

What I want to know is, what do they do with the babies once they get them? Do they eat them? Raise them for whatever reason?

Like in Rumpelstiltskin, right? When the girl agreed to give up her first born to him when she had nothing else to pay him with.

I'm assuming someone already pointed that out.

whoa... kinda lost for words here, but wow, acrylic painting, and this effin' detailed? not to mention realistic and just downright awesome..! O___O <3
That demon is adorable.. and that's a compliment btw ;D sorry, I just find monsters and demons and other "scary" creatures to be utterly adorable :3 The creepier to others, the cuter to me.. xD
But back to serious; this is really, REALLY well made. It's simply impressive! Love the design, and I love the textures. I love everything about it. So, yeah, definitely faving this
keep up the good work!

Six years later and I'm still digging on this picture. It's just so emotionally gripping, it gives me chills and makes my stomach knot with concern for that baby. I love the balance of the demon holding the cord in its mouth as if he's going to eat the child, but on the other hand he's cradling it rather tenderly. So much suspense built into a still image. Just thought I'd express my love once more. :D

Ah yes- the price of anything we really shouldn't have- our children. Shouldn't that teach a lesson? I mean, if these powerful creatures want our children,. shouldn't that sort of tell someone that children mean A LOT?
'nyway, I love the way you did this- I'm surprised your hand didn't fall off while doing it.

Wow, this is very beautiful.

Why do people keep thinking hes going to kill the infant. looks to me more like hes protecting it.

Like some sort of body gaurd. Just because hes a difrent spcies dosnt mean he would treat other difrently from his own kind.

:3

A very beautiful picture, a painting infact.

your a very talented artist ... I think im going to keep my eyes on you.

I research demonology and supernatural subjects and I've learned about a couple kinds of demons, one called an incubus the other, a succubus.

An incubus is a demon that seduces human women and impregnates them with thier demon offspring, resulting in a half-demon child.

A succubus is a demon that entices human men into having sex with them, in hopes of getting impregnated.

And yes, it's true that demon pacts sometimes involve a human baby as payment.

I study demonology, lycanthropy, witchcraft, but nothing satanic. I'm a wiccan, I worship mother earth.

Talax, you sound like someone I'd be interested in talking to...Especially the 'I make it my business to know' bit. Perhaps we're both people with, shall we say, first hand knowledge? Message me, if you want, it'd be interesting to talk to you.
Kyoht -- I'm betting you have absolutely no idea how completely accurate this is. When I first saw this, I couldn't believe my eyes. I could barely breathe. I think I came close to pulling one of these: :faint: You're someone I'd love to talk to, too - I'd love to know where you got the inspiration for this. Needless to say, a favorite the instant I saw it. So accurate. I have this as my computer desktop background now. I can't stop staring at it. Oh, if I could only draw...
Anyway, great job, this is really well done, just plain awesome, thanks so much for sharing.
Cheers!

I am honored that you find me interesting, MSM.

I would never have thought someone would find my words on one artwork so appealing, especially in regards to demonology.

but I'm terribly sorry to tell you, but from what you said it sounds like you think I made this artwork, well I didn't. I can't draw to save my life. I simply spoke of what I thought the artwork represented.

Still, if you're interested I'll gladly talk supernatural with you

I don't comment on DA.. pretty much ever... But this caught my eye. Aside from the wonderful execution of this piece I love the detail. The detail that inspired me to comment? The simple detail of the slight frizzyness of the demon's hair - or the kink to it. I know I know... not one of the cooler things about it, but a subtle detail that I think is amazing. Thank you for sharing this!

*groooooooaaaaan*! I hate you! :shakefist:

I've recently had my 2nd son (he's nine days old now) and I had this idea in my head of drawing a werewolf like monster holding a newborn in a rather protective manner... but you've already done a pic like it... and whats really freaky is this was pretty much exactly the same pose and everything I was going to use...

Darn you!!! and....your.... super awesome pic
